WESTMINSTER, Pa. - The Swarthmore College baseball team earned a series split at McDaniel College on Saturday afternoon. The Garnet fell 8-6 in the opener, before answering with a 12-10 victory in the finale.
Paul Cooke,
Nate Jbara and
Matthew Silvestre all homered in the series finale. The Garnet also received a dominant four innings from
Zach Camp in a relief victory.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED

Andrew Olsen opened the scoring with an RBI double in the third inning, but the Green Terror answered with a crooked number in the bottom half as they rallied for six runs, 6-1.
- Cooke attempted to dig the Garnet out of a hole with an RBI double in the fourth.
Kirk Terada-Herzer then added another run in the inning on a sacrifice fly to pull within three runs, 6-3.Â
- Swarthmore tied the game with three runs in the seventh inning.
Luke Mutz plated a pair of runs with a triple, while Burgess added brought home the tying run with a sacrifice fly. However, McDaniel responded with a two-run seventh inning to regain the lead, 8-6.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cooke singled in two runs to open the scoring.
Michael Sepe then came around to score on a wild pitch to cap off a three-run first inning. However, McDaniel answered with three runs in the second inning to tie things up, 3-3.Â
- Cooke plated one run on a ground out in the third inning. The senior then mashed a home run to right field to open the fifth inning. The Garnet added on three more runs in the fifth on a Jbara homer and a Roffwarg RBI single, 8-3.Â
- McDaniel took the lead with seven runs in the fifth inning to take a two-run lead. The Garnet then plated one run on an error in the seventh, before tying things up on a wild pitch in the eighth inning. The Garnet then took the lead with a go-ahead two-run homer from Silvestre in the eighth, 12-10.
- Camp continued to put together a strong ending to his season with four shutout innings in a winning effort. The senior struck out eight batters and allowed one hit in a much-needed, dominant relief appearance.Â
