SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Swarthmore College Baseball earned a sweep over Washington College (Md.) on Saturday afternoon as they returned to Centennial Conference action after 1,069 days. Game one went in favor of the Garnet, 11-8, while the home team earned a victory in game two, 7-6, in extra innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Shoreman tallied the first three runs of the game, but
Max Roffwarg scored as
Matthew Silvestre walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the third.
Nate Jbara doubled home three runs as he roped a hit to deep left center field to give the Garnet a 4-3 edge. Swarthmore added a fifth run as
Paul Cooke reached on an error by the second baseman, allowing Jbara to score.
- After allowing three runs in the first three innings,
Edward Berry settled down to retire the next nine batters.
- Washington retook the lead in the top half of the eighth inning as Jim Curtin, CJ Gillmer and Nate Iseman recorded RBI at-bats. The bottom half of the eighth inning started off with a walk by Cooke. Roffwarg knocked him on a single down the right field line.

Kirk Terada-Herzer added an RBI single to through the left side, and Roffwarg would score as he was interfered with on the base paths. In a bases loaded situation, Silvestre singled to center field to score Terada-Herzer, and
Luke Mutz. The Garnet added their tenth run of the game on a double steal as
Evan Johnson stole second, and
Austin Burgess stole home. Johnson would later score on a wild pitch to make it an 11-8 Swarthmore lead.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swarthmore jumped to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning behind a two-run home run to right field by Cooke.

Andrew Olsen notched his first collegiate home run as he roped a solo shot over the left field fence.
- Trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the eighth inning,
Michael Sepe doubled home Mutz from second base to tie the game. The top of the ninth saw the Shoreman retake the lead with a 6-4 advantage. Terada-Herzer scored on an RBI single by Burgess, and Mutz would tie the game as he scored on a Silvestre foul out to right field.
- After a scoreless 10th inning, the Garnet received a scoreless 11th inning from
Jeremy Jensen. Leading off the home half of the inning, Terada-Herzer walk, advanced to second on a single by Mutz. Standing on second base with two outs, the junior looked to advance on a wild pitch but was able to come around to score as the throw from the Washington catcher sailed into left field.
