Women’s Lacrosse Picks Up Conference Victory at McDaniel

WESTMINSTER, MD - The Swarthmore College women's lacrosse team returned to the win column with an 11-10 victory at McDaniel College on Saturday.

Helena Irvine and Emma Holub each added three points to lead the offense. Irvine collected a hat trick, while Holub added two goals and an assist.

Helen Stafford held things down on the defensive end with 12 saves on 31 shots faced. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swarthmore opened the game with back-to-back goals from Irvine and Andie Kapiloff in the opening five minutes. However, McDaniel answered with consecutive scores to tie the game before the end of the first stanza, 2-2.

- The Green Terror took its first lead as they opened the second quarter with a score. Swarthmore then responded with three-straight goals to end the opening half with a two-score advantage. Holub tallied the first score at the 6:24 mark, which was followed by an Eleanor Miller goal in the following minute. Isabela Bloomquist then found the back of the net as she scored less than 30-seconds later, 5-3.

- The Garnet scored the opening two goals of the second half to expand their goal streak to five-unanswered. Irvine opened the scoring at the 13:49 mark, while Kyra Hall collected a man-up tally to take a four-goal advantage. The Green Terror would cut its deficit in half with back-to-back goals, before Elizabeth Zack and Abigail Love each added scores before the end of the third, 9-5. 

- McDaniel fought back with consecutive scores to open the fourth quarter. Irvine and Holub each scored sandwiched between a Green Terror score to take a three-goal lead. McDaniel then added two more goals before the final horn, but could not overtake the Garnet's lead.
