SWARTHMORE, PA. - No. 27 Swarthmore College Women's Tennis won their seventh straight match and fourth straight in Centennial Conference play as they defeated Ursinus College, 9-0, on Wednesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Garnet took a commanding lead as they scored all three points in doubles play.
Nathalie Williams and
Spencer Watts earned an 8-0 victory at the number one doubles position. At the number two doubles position,
Anna Miller and
Sophie Brown battled to an 8-4 victory.
Grace Dignazio and
Ruthie Njagi secured the third point as they rallied to an 8-3 victory at the number three position.
- In singles action, Williams finished first with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the number two position. At the number three position, Watts clinched the match a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
- Brown collected a 6-0, 6-0 win at the number four singles position, while Miller earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the number five singles spot. Dignazio and
Jenny Lewis closed out the match with victories at the number six and one singles position respectively. Dignazio won with a score of 6-0, 6-1, while Lewis earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory.
- The Garnet improve to 9-1 on the season and 4-0 in conference play. Swarthmore and Johns Hopkins University are the only two remaining programs with an undefeated conference record.
