HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Swarthmore College women's lacrosse team cruised past Gordon College, 22-4, in its spring break opener on Monday afternoon.
Isabela Bloomquist led the Garnet with four goals, while
Ashley Pyon,
Emma Holub,
Abigail Love,
Helena Irvine and
Elizabeth Zack all collected hat tricks.
Eleanor Miller,
Madeline Daulerio and
Rachel Choe also added a goal in the contest.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Love tallied the first goal of the game at the 14:31 mark, but Gordon answered two minutes later to tie the game. The Garnet then answered with five-straight goals - including a pair from Irvine and Holub, respectfully. Gordon ended Swarthmore's run with a goal at the 3:18 mark, but the Garnet added two more scores before the end of the quarter, 8-2.
- Gordon struck first in the second quarter. However, the Garnet dominated the stanza as they ended the first half on a 10-0 run. Bloomquist and Pyon each scored three goals in the quarter as the Garnet ended the half with a 15 goal advantage, 18-3.
- Swarthmore shutout Gordon in the third quarter. Daulerio and Choe each scored for the Garnet to cap off 12-unanswered goals, 20-3.
- Gordon tallied its fourth goal in the opening minute of the fourth quarter. The Garnet then closed out the game with goals from Zack and Bloomquist, 22-4.
