PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - The Swarthmore College baseball team fell short against Lebanon Valley College, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon.
Luke Mutz led the offense with three hits, while
Michael Sepe added a pair of hits and a walk.
Kirk Terada-Herzer collected the team's lone RBI on the afternoon.Â
Kyle Jones-Shah tossed 4.1 scoreless-innings of relief as he kept the Garnet within striking distance. Jones-Shah struck out five batters and allowed just two hits.
Jeremy Jensen and
Owen Webb also appeared in relief - combining for three scoreless innings with seven strikeouts.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lebanon Valley combined for four runs to build an early cushion in the first inning, 4-0. Jones-Shah entered the game in relief and stranded a runner in scoring position with a big strike out.Â

Paul Cooke sparked a two-out rally in the seventh inning with a triple. Terada-Herzer then singled to plate the team's first run.
- The Garnet added two runs in the eighth to pull within one run. Swarthmore loaded the bases with no outs following a pair of singles and an error. The Garnet plated a pair of runs on two passed balls, but couldn't bring home the tying run, 4-3.
