SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Alexandra Simon tallied her first collegiate home run as Swarthmore College Softball swept Penn State Brandywine on Thursday afternoon at Clothier Field.
The Garnet (11-2) took down the Lions with a score of 10-2 in the first game and 6-4 in the second game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lions jumped out to a 2-0 lead with RBI singles in the top of the third and fifth innings. Swarthmore's offense was kick started in the bottom of the fifth as
Brooke Coneeny doubled to left field, allowing
Kate Hart to score. Coneeny came around to score as
Maya Estrera tripled down the right field line, and
Gwen Glatz knocked in Estrera and
Laura Hirai.
- In the bottom of the sixth inning,
Emily Bertrand notched an RBI single to left field to give Swarthmore the 10-2 victory.
- Bertrand went 4-for-4 at the plate with two runs batted in. The freshman earned the victory in the circle as she allowed four hits, one run, three walks and struck out one in three innings of work.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Garnet offense tallied four runs in the bottom half of the third inning behind singles from Hirai and
Sam Hastings, a double from Glatz and a sacrifice fly from Coneeny.
- In the bottom half of the fourth inning, Simon drove the ball to deep left field and notched her first collegiate home run as the ball bounced off the top of the fence. The solo homer gave Swarthmore a 5-0 lead.
- Glatz added an insurance run in the bottom of the fouth inning as she scored on a passed basll to extend the lead to 6-0.

Meg Ozawa earned the victory and the save in the circle for the Garnet. The lefty started the game off by striking out seven of the first nine batters faced. Ozawa started the game with four innings of work, and re-entered the game in the top of the sixth to get the final out of the game. She allowed no hits, one walk and eight strikeouts in 4.1 innings of work.

The Garnet return to the diamond on Saturday as they open up Centennial Conference play against Franklin & Marshall College. First pitch of the conference battle is set for 1:00 p.m. in Lancaster, Pa.
