SWARTHMORE, PA. - No. 26 Swarthmore College Women's Tennis knocked off No. 35 Haverford College in Centennial Conference play on Wednesday afternoon at the Michael Mullan Tennis Center. The Garnet defeated the Fords with a score of 6-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In doubles play, the Garnet took a 2-1 edge. At the number one position,
Crystal Xu and
Nathalie Williams earned an 8-2 decision over Anne Tobin and Rachael Fitzgerald.
Sonia Varma and
Erica Stutz rallied to earn an 8-7 victory. The duo won the match with a 10-7 tiebreaker point.
- At the number one singles position,
Jenny Lewis earned a 6-2, 6-1 decision over #25 regionally ranked Rachael Fitzgerald. Williams added another victory with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at the number two position.

Oviya Kumaran battled to earn a three-set victory at the number four spot to clinch the match for the Garnet. Kumaran won the first set 7-6, but dropped the second set 6-3. In the third set, the sophomore earned a hard fought 10-3 victory.

Daniela Padron-Castillo added a 7-5, 6-1 victory at the number six position for the Garnet.
