Men's Lacrosse Drops Tight Battle at Muhlenberg

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Swarthmore College men's lacrosse team dropped a tightly-contested battle versus Muhlenberg College, 11-8, on Wednesday night. The Garnet went back-and-forth with the Muhles, who received votes in the most recent national rankings. 

Carter Strauch led the offense with four points on a pair of goals and two assists, while Jackson Brosgol also added a couple goals. Ryan Chambliss, Von Mabbs, Ben Schaeffer and Quin Seivold each added one goal for the Garnet.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Swarthmore opened the game with two unanswered scores. Brosgol connected on the first tally in the opening minute, while Mabbs added a goal at the 9:30 mark to take an early lead. Muhlenberg then responded with a score, before Strauch found the back of the net with 5:33 remaining. However, the Muhles scored twice before the end of the quarter to tie the game, 4-4.

- Chambliss scored off an assist from Mabbs to open the second stanza. Moments later, Strauch connected on his second tally to take another two-score lead. Muhlenberg kept the Garnet off the scoreboard for the final minutes as they closed the half on a 3-0 run to take its first lead, 6-5.

- Schaeffer tied the game up with a goal at the 10:07 mark of the third quarter. The Muhles quickly regained the lead with a go-ahead tally, before Brosgol found the back of the net to even the score with 8:43 left. Muhlenberg ended the third stanza with consecutive goals to take a two-score advantage into the final quarter, 9-7.

- Seivold brought the Garnet within one goal off an assist from Strauch to open the fourth quarter, but Muhlenberg got the goal back with a tally at the 7:17 mark. The Muhles held the Garnet scoreless for the remainder of the quarter as they held on to a three-goal victory, 11-8.
