SWARTHMORE, PA. - No. 26 Swarthmore College Women's Tennis opened the Centennial Conference schedule with a 8-1 victory over Dickinson College on Saturday afternoon at the Cunningham Tennis Courts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In doubles action, the Garnet earned a three-point sweep. At the number one spot,
Sonia Varma and
Erica Stutz earned a hard fought 8-5 victory.
Crystal Xu and
Nathalie Williams won an 8-2 decision, while
Jenny Lewis and
Daniela Padron-Castillo earned an 8-0 victory at the number three spot.
- Williams and Padron-Castillo clinched the victory for the Garnet in singles play as they earned a point each. Finishing first, at the number two spot, Williams earned a 6-1, 6-0 decision. Padron-Castillo earned a 6-1, 6-0 decision at the number five position as she was the second match finish.
- At the number four spot,
Oviya Kumaran earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory for Swarthmore.
Spencer Watts was the next match to finish as the sophomore claimed a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the number six position.
- Varma wrapped up the victory for Swarthmore as she tallied a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the number three position. At the number one spot, Lewis dropped a hard fought match in three sets (7-6, 6-7, 8-10).
