SWARTHMORE, PA. - No. 38 Swarthmore College Men's Tennis earned a pair of victories on Saturday as they knocked off Gettysburg College and Centre College. In Centennial Conference play, the Garnet knocked off the Bullets, 9-0, while knocking off the Colonels in the afternoon, 9-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Against the Bullets, the Garnet took are of business with a 3-0 sweep in doubles action.
Graham Hadesman and
Max Pogorelov earned an 8-2 victory at the number one spot. At the number two spot,
Phil Rehwinkel and
Josiah Myers-Lipton battled to an 8-3 victory, while
Hellman Zhao and
Ian Chen earned an 8-1 decision to complete the sweep.
- In singles action, Swarthmore did not lose a set.
Kevin Jiang won at the number one spot, 6-4, 6-0, as Rehwinkel tallied a 6-2, 6-1 victory at the number two position. Myers-Lipton,
Noah Criss,
Andy Wu and
Minki Kim completed the sweep in singles play as they helped the Garnet to a 9-0 victory.
- In a doubles sweep against Centre,
Grant Dill and
John Nichols-Daly recorded a hard fought 8-5 victory at the number one position. The number two doubles position saw
Charley Force and
Rushil Patel earn an 8-2 win. Rehwinkel paired up with
Minh Nguyen to earn a 8-6 win in the number three spot.
- At the number one singles spot, Force notched his second win of the day as he earned a 6-2, 6-1 decision. Jiang, Myers-Lipton, Criss, Pogorelov and Hadesman each tallied two set victories as the Garnet earned sixth 9-0 win of the season.
