SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Swarthmore College Softball earned a 7-2 victory over Gwynedd Mercy University as they returned to play on campus for the first time since April 27th, 2019.
Five different Garnet players led the way with a pair of hits, as
Gwen Glatz and
Olivia McClammy each tallied three runs batted in. Tuesday's game was the first game played on Swarthmore's campus by the Garnet in 1,053 days.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Garnet jumped to a 2-0 first inning lead as McClammy opened the scoring with a RBI single to the shortstop.
Laura Hirai, who reached base on a single through the right side, scored on the base knock by McClammy. McClammy came around to score on an RBI single up the middle by Glatz.
- Glatz added a double to left center field to plate a pair of runs.
Maya Estrera scored from third, while Hiari scored from second to give the Garnet a 4-0 advantage in the bottom of the third.
- The Griffins got on the board in the top of the fourth on an rbi single by Ashley Focht. In the bottom half of the inning, the Garnet got that run back as McClammy knocked home
Cassidy Cheong and
Flannery McFadden on a base knock up the middle.
- A
Kate Hart double to right center field allowed
Grace Taylor to score as Swarthmore gained a 7-1 lead in the home half of the fifth inning.
- The Garnet put the ball in play as they only struck out twice in the contest.
- In the circle,
Meg Ozawa earned the win as the lefty struck out seven and allowed two hits and one run in four innings of work.
- Heading into the fourth inning of the second game, the game was called due to darkness with the Garnet leading 17-3.
