SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Swarthmore College Men's Lacrosse tallied the opening four goals as they defeated Vassar College, 16-4, in dominate fashion on Saturday afternoon at Clothier Field Stadium.
Led by five goals from
Carter Strauch and four from
Michael Hardiman, the Garnet led from start to finish in the non-conferene battled.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- C. Strauch opened the scoring with a little under five minutes gone in the opening quarter as the sophomore started a parade of four goals straight for the Garnet.
Von Mabbs notched the second goal, as C. Strauch finished of the run with two more. Swarthmore outscored the Brewers 6-1 in the opening frame.
- It was a defensive battle in the second quarter, as both teams combined for four goals. The Garnet were 7-of-7 on clear attempts in the second quarter, while the Brewers were 5-of-7.
Samuel Ginsberg and
Ben Schaeffer each caused turnovers on the attempted clears by the visiting teams.
- The Garnet increased their half-time lead by scoring the only three goals of the third frame. C. Strauch, Mabbs and Hardiman accounted for the goals, while
Jackson Brosgol added an assist on the Hardiman goal.
- A stellar perfomance in the cage by
Shane Nachshen as he recorded nine saves to pick up his second straight win of the season.
