Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Visconti Scores 1,000th Point, Propelling Men’s Basketball to Championship Finale

BALTIMORE, MD - The No. 18 Swarthmore College men's basketball team defeated Gettysburg College, 80-64, to advance to tomorrow's Centennial Conference Championship.

George Visconti paced the Garnet's offense with an incredible shooting performance as the junior surpassed the 1,000 career point milestone for the Garnet. Visconti collected a game-high 24 points, while shooting 10-of-12 from the field and 4-of-5 from long range.

Vinny DeAngelo and Michael Caprise also scored in double figures with 12 and 10, respectively. Caprise dominated the glass as he matched a season-best 16 rebounds for his third double-double of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Conor Harkins opened the contest with a three-pointer, Visconti surpassed the 1,000 point mark with a three ball of his own. The junior followed up his own shot after missing a floater and drilled a three-pointer from the wing as the Garnet took a 6-3 lead.

- The Bullets pulled ahead early in the first half as they went on an 8-0 run to give themselves an eight-point advantage. Harkins eventually tied the game up with a three-pointer with 10:14 remaining in the opening half. Caprise sent the Garnet into halftime with a pair of free throws as Swarthmore took a three-point lead into intermission, 36-33.

- Visconti set the tone early in the second half with consecutive buckets out of the locker room. Moments later, the junior drilled another triple as he capped off a 13-0 rally to open the second stanza, 49-33. Visconti was responsible for nine of the team's 13 points as they held the Bullets scoreless for the opening 4:39 of the second half.

- Later in the half, Visconti added to his scoring total as he helped put the Bullets away. The junior put the Garnet ahead by 17-points with a jumper, before expanding his team's lead to 20-points after a three-pointer with 4:08 left to mark Swarthmore's largest lead.
