ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - After falling behind early in the contest, Swarthmore College Men's Lacrosse battled back to earn a 12-9 victory over Eastern University on Wednesday afternoon.
Led by four goals from
Von Mabbs and three from
Jackson Brosgol, the Garnet won their second straight game to open the season. A second half offensive burst helped propel Swarthmore to victory over the Eagles.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but Mabbs ended the run with 1:04 remaining in the first as he notched his fourth goal of the season with the help of Brosgol.
- Brosgol cut into the lead as he scored Swarthmore's opening goal of the second quarter. The Garnet and Eagles each tallied a pair of goals as Swarthmore entered the half-time break down, 6-3.
- The Garnet turned on the offensive jets in the third quarter. On a man-up opportunity,
Carter Strauch opened the third frame with his fourth goal of the season. The sophomore's goal started a run of five straight goals for Swarthmore. Mabbs added a pair of goals, while Brosgol and
Quin Seivold each tallied a goal for the Garnet during the opening ten minutes of the third.
- Seivold, Brosgol and Mabbs accounted for the three goals in the fourth quarter as the Garnet locked up the come from behind victory.
Shane Nachshen picked up his first collegiate victory as he recorded eight saves in the cage.
