Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Dominates Susquehanna, Extends Win Streak To Five

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Playing in their final game before the winter holiday, the Swarthmore men's basketball team beat Susquehanna University 84-65 on Wednesday, Dec. 7th.

The Garnet were captained by a three-headed offensive attack, with senior George Visoconti (24), junior Vinny DeAngelo (14) and junior Michael Caprise (13) all scoring double digit points. Caprise also anchored Swarthmore defensively, putting up team-leading stats of three blocks and two steals while also pulling down eight rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Garnet came out the gate swinging to kick off the first half, going up 6-0 within the first two minutes off of points from Caprise and senior Colin Shaw. While Susquehanna were able to pull the game back within one over the next three minutes, that success would not last. The Garnet would proceed to dominate the next nine minutes, going on a 27-8 run to take a 35-15 lead. While the River Hawks were able to stem some of the bleeding over the half's last three minutes, the Garnet went into the break sporting a very comfortable 42-22 advantage.

- Swarthmore's defense proved truly dominant throughout the first half, allowing Susquehanna just seven field goals compared to the Garnet's 16.

- Swarthmore would extend their lead to start off the second half, relying on layups from Visconti, DeAngelo and Caprise to take a 24 point lead four minutes into the period. From here, Garnet shooting would fall silent, seeing just four baskets over the next six minutes. The River Hawks took advantage of the slump, closing the Garnet's margin to as little as 12 with 9:32 left to play. However, Susquehanna's comeback was short lived, as Swarthmore finally found their rhythm and finished off their opponent, regaining a sizeable lead to take the game 84-65

- Visconti had an excellent game, posting season high marks in both points(24) and rebounds (10).

-The Garnet are now 8-1, 3-0 in conference play.
