CARLISLE, Pa. - Improving to 3-0 in conference play, the Swarthmore men's basketball team dominated Dickinson College by a score of 84-47 on Saturday, Dec. 3rd.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Garnet saw double digit point totals from four players, with junior
Vinny DeAngelo (16), senior
George Corzine (15), senior
George Visconti (13) and first year
Eddie Paquette (13) all contributing significantly to Swarthmore's win. Defensively, Paquette and Corzine smothered the Red Devil attack, with Paquette notching five steals and Corzine pulling down eight rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- While points from DeAngelo and senior
Colin Shaw gave the Garnet an early lead, the Red Devils fought back, tying that game at 6-all five minutes into the game. That draw would not last however, as the Swarthmore offense would explode over the next eight minutes, going on a 23-8 run to go up 29-14 with 7:30 left to play. While Dickinson would shrink the Garnet's margin to 11 with four minutes left in the half, clutch shots from Shaw and DeAngelo won Swarthmore back some breathing room, with the team sporting a comfortable 41-26 lead at the horn.
- Looking to put the game truly out of reach, a jumper from first year
Cal Hanson kicked off a dominant second half for the Garnet. A white-hot Corzine grabbed the baton and ran with it, putting up eight straight points and giving Swarthmore their largest lead of the contest so far at 51-27 with 16:58 left to play. Corzine, Shaw, Paquette and first year
Devin Burger would extend Swarthmore's run to 17-0, stretching the Garnet's margin to 33. Swarthmore would go on to truly dominate the rest of the game, taking multiple 40-point leads throughout the second half as the Garnet ran away with an 84-47 win.
- The Garnet's 37 point win is the squad's largest since their victory over Washington College on January 13th, 2022.
- The Garnet are now 7-1, 3-0 in conference play.
