SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Starting 3-0 for the seventh straight season, the Swarthmore men's basketball team took down #22 Wesleyan University by a score of 79-61.

Offensively, the Garnet saw five players put up double digit points, with senior
George Visconti (17), junior
Vinny DeAngelo (17), first year Eddie Paquette (16), senior
George Corzine (10) and senior
Colin Shaw (10) all contributing greatly to Swarthmore's offensive success. Defensively, the Garnet stifled the Wesleyan attack, holding the Cardinals to just 61 points, the lowest point total allowed by Swarthmore since Gettysburg College scored 51 on Feb. 19th, 2022. Headlining on the defensive end for the Garnet, junior Michael Caprese had a monstrous game, tallying a team leading 15 rebounds, as well as two steals and a block.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Garnet struck first off of a DeAngelo jumper, taking a 2-0 advantage 48 seconds into the contest. While Wesleyan would take a lead of their own off of two back-to-back buckets, that would be their last lead of the afternoon, one that a Visconti three would quickly snatch back from them. Swarthmore dominated in nearly every statistic throughout the first half but none more so than scoring, outshooting Wesleyan 48% to 36% from the floor and leading by 18 points by the end of the half. As the horn sounded the scoreboard read Garnet 39, Cardinals 21.
- Swarthmore did not let their foot off the gas in the second half, continuing to dominate on offense and going up by 21 points less than one minute into the period. Wesleyan was finally able to find some success on the offensive end, managing to shrink the Garnet lead to 57-46 with 7:36 left to play. However, the Cardinals could not keep pace with the inexorable Swarthmore attack, with the Garnet eventually taking the win by 18 points at 79-61.
- The Garnet are now 3-0 on the season, the seventh season in a row that Swarthmore men's basketball has won their first three games.
