Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Outlasts Muhlenberg, 1-0

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Improving to 3-1-1 in conference play, the Swarthmore women's soccer team took down Muhlenberg College 1-0 on Saturday, Oct. 8th.

The lone goal of the game came from senior Elizabeth Brown in the 26th minute, with the Ohio native taking full advantage of a penalty shot to put Swarthmore up 1-0. On defense, junior Nora Greer secured the Garnet's fifth shutout of the season, tallying five saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-    Streaking down the field looking for a shot just over 25 minutes into the game, senior Kim Kockenmesiter collided with the Muhlenberg goalie to draw a penalty kick for the Garnet. Brown made the most of the chance, burying the ball in the back of the net for the game's only goal.
-    While unable to score again, the Swarthmore offense was humming all game. Swarthmore put up 21 shots, seven of which were on target, while also drawing nine corners. The Garnet were led offensively by Kockenmesiter with five shots, Brown with four and senior Alice Onyango-Opiyo with three.
-    Defensively, the Garnet stifled any hopes Muhlenberg had to equalize. Swarthmore held the Mules to just 13 shots on the day, with Greer handling the five that came her way.
-    Swarthmore improves to 9-2-1 on the season, 3-1-1 in conference play.
