Women’s Soccer Drops Regular Season Finale to Haverford

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's soccer team dropped its regular season finale versus Haverford College, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon. The Garnet secured the third seed in the Centennial Tournament and will host Gettysburg College to open the postseason.

Kim Kockenmeister expanded on her team lead in goals with the team's lone tally. The senior notched her eighth goal of the season and will end the regular season slate with a team-best 17 points. Amelia Mounts also added an assist on the day as she expanded her regular season total to 14 points. 

Nora Greer played a full 90-minutes for the Garnet, while collecting a game-high five saves. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Garnet surrendered an early goal in the fifth minute to put themselves in an early deficit. Swarthmore put together an attack moments later in search of a quick response, but had a Mounts shot attempt saved.

- Kockenmeister registered shots on goal in the 27th and 28th minutes, respectively, but both shot attempts were stopped by the Fords keeper. 

-Both teams registered six shots in a tightly-contested opening half. Haverford held a 3-1 corners advantage, while Swarthmore led 4-3 in shots on goal.

- Haveford added an insurance tally in the 73rd minute to take a two-goal advantage. Swarthmore then countered moments later with a Kockenmeister goal to cut their deficit in half.
