HOW IT HAPPENED
- While Bryn Mawr kept the match close through the first twenty minutes, the Garnet took the lead in minute 25 and never looked back. Catching the rebound of a shot by Mounts that had just barely bounced out after clanging off the crossbar, Chang sent the ball definitively into the back of the net to put the Garnet up 1-0.
- Swarthmore extended their lead just seven minutes later, when Zitelli headed in an arcing pass into the box from senior
Nicte Machado-Aco for the Garnet's second goal.
- Looking to extend Swarthmore's lead before halftime, Zitelli sent a long pass to Kaufman-Sedano, who dribbled around her defender and slipped the ball past the keeper to put the Garnet up 3-0 at the horn.
- The Garnet found the back of the net twice more in the second half. In the 64th minute, Mounts caught a rebound from sophomore
Anna Cairone off of a corner kick, knocking the ball in for the Garnet's second header goal of the game. In the 84th minute, senior Kim Kockenmensiter shook off multiple defenders to get the ball to Lee, who hammered it past the keeper for the first score of her Swarthmore career.
- Defensively, the Garnet smothered the Owl offense, holding Bryn Mawr to just five shots, only one of which was on goal.
- This 5-0 win ties the Garnet's largest margin of victory for the season, having taken down Rutgers-Newark 5-0 back in September.
- With this win, Swarthmore has secured themselves a place in the Centennial Conference Playoffs.
- The Garnet are now 12-3-1, 6-2-1 in conference play.
