COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Securing their fifth consecutive conference win, the Swarthmore College volleyball team took down Ursinus College by a score of 3-0 on Wednesday, Oct. 18th.
With tonight's win, the Garnet clinched a Centennial Championship Tournament berth as they currently control the second spot in the regular season standings.Â
Â
Offensively, the Garnet were led by juniors

HOW IT HAPPENED
- While the first set was close to start off, with the Garnet only up 5-4 through the first nine serves, Swarthmore rode the momentum of a powerful Zhang kill to go on a 13-4 run and take an 18-9 lead. While Ursinus tried to regain control, going on a 4-0 run of their own near the end of the period, the Garnet's advantage proved insurmountable as Swarthmore claimed set number one 25-17.
- Looking to further establish their dominance, the Garnet rode the hot hand at serve of senior
Chloe Mayhue to take an 8-0 lead out the gate, with Mayhue cementing the run with three aces. The Garnet would never relinquish the lead, outlasting another late run from the Ursinus offense to close out the set 25-15.
- While the Garnet started off slow in the third set, with Ursinus taking their first lead since the opening points of the match, the Swarthmore offense got back on track and seized back control of the match, going up 11-10. With the defense humming alongside a stellar offensive attack, Ursinus would only manage eight more points on the match, with the Garnet claiming the set 25-18, and the match 3-0.Â
-Â The Garnet now have a 13-7 record, 6-1 in conference play.
