Men’s Soccer Draws Penn State-Abington, 1-1

ABINGTON, Pa. - Playing in their last non-conference game of the season, the Swarthmore men's soccer team tied Penn State University At Abington 1-1 on Tuesday, October 11th.

The Garnet would score first, finding their goal in the ninth minute off the foot of junior Antonio Callegari. Swarthmore would not surrender their goal until the 51st minute. On the day, junior keeper Caleb Erenhaft faced eight shots, putting up four saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-    Striking first less than ten minutes into the match, Callegari took full advantage of a free kick awarded to the Garnet. First year Kaito Hikino served the ball in to senior Leo Hecht, who made sure the ball found its way to Callegari's feet. Callegari would then send the ball screaming past the Penn State keeper to put the Garnet up 1-0.
-    While unable to score again throughout the rest of the match, the Garnet were able to create ample opportunity for themselves. Swarthmore put up 14 shots on the match, six of which were on target. Additionally, the Garnet earned four corners to Penn State's two.
-    Penn State struck back at the beginning of the second half, scoring in the 51st minute and tying the game up at one-all.
-    On the defensive end, Swarthmore held Penn State to just eight shots, only five of which were on target. Ehrenhaft only allowed one ball past him, notching four saves.
-    The Garnet now sport a 6-4-3 record overall.
