ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Deborah Kim's lone goal led Swarthmore College Field Hockey to victory over Muhlenberg College in a mid-week Centennial Conference game on Wednesday night.
 
The Garnet improve to 6-2 on the season and 1-1 in conference play, while the Mules fall to 2-5 and 0-2 in the conference.

After a scoreless first frame, Muhlenberg attempted to clear the ball out of the zone, but Grace Fuselier took possession of it at midfield for the Garnet. Kim opened the scoring in the 21st minute by putting home the loose ball from Martina Kampel's reverse sweep from the top of the circle.
 
The Garnet outshot the Mules in the second frame 3-0, with all three shots on goal. In the third frame, Swarthmore tallied five shots compared to one shot for the Mules. The Garnet also held the advantage on corners as they collected four while Muhlenberg had only one.
 
Mid-way through the fourth quarter, Jackie Crowley forced Muhlenberg goalie Mel Cartagena to make another tough save. Muhlenberg put pressure on the Garnet defense in the final frame as they recorded three early shots and forced Victoria Kimmel to make two challenging saves. Kimmel collected her second shutout on the season and moved to 5-1 on the season.
 
Kim and Kampel each recorded three shots. Sophia Hitchingham tallied a pair of shots, while Crowley, Quinn Basewitz and Samantha Meacock collected one for the Garnet.
 
Swarthmore returns to action as they host Gettysburg at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday at Clothier Field Stadium.
