SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Swarthmore College Volleyball fell in a hard battle against No. 1 Johns Hopkins University on Saturday in a Centennial Conference opener at Tarble Pavilion.
The Garnet, dropping to 4-5 and 0-1 in league play, fell in three sets (12-25, 14-25, 19-25) to the Blue Jays (10-0, 2-0 CC)
Swarthmore opened the first set with four of the first five points.
Kaylee Zhang collected three of those points including one kill and a service ace. After exchanging points mid-way though the first, Hopkins pulled away for 25-12 set victory.
After Hopkins took the first four points in the second set,
Trisha Razdan got the Garnet on the board with a kill assisted by
Dani Pena. The third set saw Swarthmore take an early lead after earning five of the first seven points.
Jordan Perry collected a kill, while
Sierra Tyson added a service ace during this run.
Razdan led the Garnet with seven kills and added three digs, while Pena collected 16 assists and three digs. Zhang gathered eight digs as Tyson added seven for the Garnet.
Lucy Fetterman added a solo block. Razdan,
Grace Hegland,
Chloe Mayhue and
Erin Kaye added a block assist for Swarthmore.
The Garnet return to action on Tuesday as they travel to take on Muhlenberg in Centennial play at 7:30 p.m.
