SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Swarthmore College Volleyball defeated Marymount and Lebanon Valley on the second day of the Garnet Quad Match. The Garnet fought back to defeated the Saints in five sets (11-25, 23-25, 25-14, 25-23, 15-10) and the Dutchwomen in four set (25-23, 17-25, 25-19, 25-19).
Swarthmore 3, Marymount 2:
Against the Saints, Swarthmore trailed 2-0 heading into the third set. The Garnet battled from the first serve to win the set by 11 points. Trailing midway throught the fourth set, the Garnet rallied to force a deciding fifth set.
Led by 16 kills from
Jordan Perry, the Garnet opened the day with a match victory. Sophomore setter
Dani Pena added 41 assists and five digs for the Garnet.
Kaylee Zhang tacked on 13 digs and nine kills, while
Lucy Fetterman tallied 11 kills for the Garnet.
Swarthmore 3, Lebanon Valley 1:
The Garnet closed out the day with a four set victory over Lebanon Valley. Zhang led the way with 12 kills, while
Erin Kaye and
Chloe Mayhue added nine kills for the Garnet.
Sierra Tyson tallied 53 digs for Swarthmore, as Mayhue and Zhang collected nine and seven digs each.
Grace Hegland garnered an impressive three service aces in the victory for Swarthmore.
The Garnet return to action on Saturday as they compete in a tri-match at Salisbury University. Swarthmore will battle Christopher Newport University at 1:00pm and the host Seagulls at 4:00pm.
