SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Swarthmore College Athletics hosted an event for the first time in 543 days as the Swarthmore College Volleyball team fell to Widener University, 25-10, 25-11, 25-19 at Tarble Pavilion on Wednesday night.
Swarthmore fought hard as they took advantage of some mistakes made by the Pride. Widener had five service errors and four receiving errors, counting for nine points.The Garnet were led by nine kills from
Kaylee Zhang and 11 assists from
Jillian Provaznik.
Lucy Fetterman added five kills, while
Grace Hegland added four kills including two service aces. Fetterman and Hegland also each collected a block assist.
Sophomore
Eleanor VanRheenen led the way with nine digs for the Garnet as Zhang collected six and
Sarah Carrasco added five.
Swarthmore is back in action on Saturday as they travel to Union, N.J. to take on UMass-Boston and Kean University in a tri-match. The first match for the Garnet is against UMass-Boston at 2pm followed by a match against host Kean at 4pm.
