Bandurick, Women's Basketball Snaps Fords Streak

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Swarthmore College Women's Basketball snapped a losing streak to Haverford College with a 55-45 victory on Tuesday night. Dana Bandurick led the way as the junior recorded a double-double. 

The Garnet improve to 4-1 and 2-0 in Centennial Conference action, while the Fords fall to 4-3 and 1-2. Swarthmore's victory snapped a ten game losing streak to Haverford, and handed the Fords their first loss at home in 2021. The Garnet last defeated the Fords on February 21st, 2015 with a 63-52 decision in Haverford.

Mid-way through the first quarter, a Lauren Howard three-pointer gave Haverford a six point lead. Swarthmore trailed 16-12 after the first quarter, which was the only time they were outscored in a quarter. The Garnet scored 14 points in the second to tie the game at 26. Bandurick, T Sallie, Carolina Lopez and Katelyn Becker recorded baskets for Swarthmore.

A three-pointer by Sallie and a fastbreak layup by Alyssa Hayashi gave the Garnet an early lead in the third quarter. 

Swarthmore entered the fourth quarter with a 37-36 edge. In the final frame, the Garnet held Haverford to nine points and shooting 26.67% from the field. Swarthmore stayed out of foul trouble in the fourth, being whistled only three times for personal fouls.

Badurick finished the game with 26 points, 13 rebounds, four steals, four blocks and three assist. Hayashi and Sallie each added ten points for the Garnet. 

Swarthmore will return home on Thursday as they take on Muhlenberg College in Centennial play. Tip-off at Tarble Pavilion is set for 7:00 p.m.
