Men's Soccer Blanks Penn State Abington

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Swarthmore College Men's Soccer dominated Penn State Abington, 3-0, in a non-conference game on Tuesday night at Clothier Field Stadium.

Oliver Garcia and Brandon Cramblit each recorded their first goals as members of the Garnet.

In the seventh minute, Garcia collected a ball inside the box that was mishandled by the Abington defense. The sophomore gathered the ball and fired a shot to the lower right corner of the net to give Swarthmore the early lead. After Dean Chong was taken down just inside the box, Harry Nevins collected his second penalty kick goal of the season in the 72nd minute.

Cramblit looked to break through in the second half as the sophomore forward recorded four shots in the frame. After two saves and one high shot by the forward, Cramblit collected the loose ball in the box for his first goal of the year.

Swarthmore forced Brendan Werner to make a lot of challenging saves as they out shot the Nittany Lions, 24-1. Abington's lone shot on goal came in the sixth minute of play. The Garnet moves to 8-2 on the season as the Nittany Lions fall to 4-5-1. Swarthmore extends its winning streak to five and holds a 6-0 record at Clothier Field Stadium.

Garcia led the way with five shots, while Cramblit and Charley Ward added four shots for the Garnet. Jason Meuth tallied three shots, while Nevins and Bless Tumushabe added a pair of shots.

The Garnet will host Muhlenberg College on Saturday at 7:00 pm in Centennial Conference play.
