SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Swarthmore College Men's Soccer kept winning on Saturday evening, racking up another Centennial Conference victory over visiting Muhlenberg College at Clothier Field Stadium. .
Two first half goals and an early goal in the second half propelled the Garnet to a comprehensive 3-0 victory over the Mules.
Charley Ward was involved in all three goals for the Garnet. He forced the issue just four minutes into the match, as a wicked cross from the right side as too much to handle for a Muhlenberg defender. The centerback reached out to clear the ball but only managed to deflect it into the top left corner of his own goal.
After
Woojin Shin was fouled 28 yards out on the left, Ward and
Sean Nolan set up for the free kick. Nolan rolled the ball three yards across to Ward, who struck a shot straight into the lower left corner of the goal for his second goal of the season.
Early in the second half, Shin looped a ball to the back post, forcing a defender to head the ball toward the top of the box.
Harrison Hotham headed the ball to Ward in the middle of the box. Ward flicked the ball backwards to Shin, who watched it bounce once, lined it up, and drove a half-volley into the left side of the net from 16 yards out for his second goal of the season.
Ayo George added a pair of shots for the Garnet.

Swarthmore improved to 9-2 on the season, 4-1 in the Centennial, while Muhlenberg fell to 5-5-1 and 1-4. The Garnet now occupy second place in the conference behind Johns Hopkins. Swarthmore take to the road for their final non-conference match of the season on Tuesday as they travel to Williamsport for a contest against Lycoming College. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m.
