Box Score 3 FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Swarthmore College Men's Tennis capped off play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Tournament at the University of Mary Washington on Sunday.
In doubles play,
Rushil Patel and
Charley Force earned a pair of victories to compete in the quarterfinals. Patel and Force knocked off Justin Pace and Tristan Steffe from Franklin & Marshall, 8-3. On Saturday, they would earn an 8-1 victory over another Centennial foe, Andrew Tran and Marco Azar (Johns Hopkins University) to move onto the quarterfinals.
Grant Dill and
Max Pogorelov advanced to the Round of 16. The pair earned a 8-3 victory over Eddy Porsmyr Hansen and Matthew Dubuque from Christopher Newport University on Friday, and an 8-6 vicyory over Dorian Guiot and Michael Miller of Marymount. In the round of 16, the pair fell 8-3 to James Yu and Thomas Yu from Centennial foe, Johns Hopkins. After falling in the first match,
Noah Criss and
Kevin Jiang won two straight matche, 8-6, to advance to the semifinals of the Doubles Consolation bracket.
As an individual on the court,
Noah Criss earned a two set victory, 6-2, 6-2, over Timothy Tep of Virginia Wesleyan University in the opening round. Pogorelov won the B3 Singles Bracket. In the opening round, Pogorelov won knocked off Nico Stromberg in two sets. In the semis, he defeated Ryan Meyer of University of Mary Washington, 6-0, 6-1. In the championship round, the freshman faced some challenges with a second set loss. Pogorelov won the title in three sets, with scores of 7-5, 4-6, and 10-8.
Jiang advanced to the semifinals of the Championship Singles bracket. As the ninth overall seed, Jiang defeated Rohan Reddy 3-6, 7-6 (2), 6-3 in the quarterfinals.
Swarthmore looks to open the spring season on February 19th as they take on Muhlenberg College in Centennial Conference action.
