SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Swarthmore College Men's Soccer squeezed by McDaniel College, 1-0, in Centennial Conference action on Saturday at Clothier Field Stadium. 

Going unchallenged down the middle of the field, Stathis Kalathias rocketed a shot from about 30 yards away to give Swarthmore the 1-0 lead. The fifth minute goal, which is his first of the season, went to the low right side of McDaniel's Jonathan Mangione. The Garnet looked to add an insurance goal in the 23rd minute, but Oliver Garcia's header went just wide of the net.

The Green Terror pressured the Garnet in the second half as they earned an early corner kick. The Swarthmore defense shutdown all shooting lanes as McDaniel was held to four shots in the game. McDaniel's Jared Edge fired a shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but Max Kral stopped the attempt.

Kral recorded two saves in net as he earned the victory for the Garnet. In the last five victories over McDaniel, the Garnet won by only one goal. Four of those results were 1-0 victories for Swarthmore. Bless Tumushabe tallied three shots, while Charley Ward recorded two shots for the Garnet. Swarthmore collected four corners compared to two for the visiting team.

The Garnet improve to 7-2 and 3-1 in Centennial play, while the Green Terror fall to 2-6 and 0-4. Swarthmore will return to the pitch on Tuesday as they host Penn State Abington at 7:00 pm.
