SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Swarthmore College Volleyball swept Ursinus College in a Centennial Conference match on Tuesday night at Tarble Pavilion. The Garnet knocked off the Bears in straight sets of 25-12, 25-20 and 25-12.
In the first set, Swarthmore recorded seven of the first ten points.
Chloe Mayhue notched a service ace and
Trisha Razdan tallied a kill during that stretch. In addition to a kill by Mayhue and Razdan, a
Sierra Tyson ace closed out the final three points of the set for Swarthmore.
The second set saw the Bears begin to pressure the Garnet as the home team recorded six errors. Coming out a Swarthmore timeout, the Garnet scored five of the next seven points to win the set 25-20.
Jordan Perry's kill from
Kaylee Zhang and a service ace finished off the set for Swarthmore.
Swarthmore hit 11 of 25 from the court in the third set to earn the sweep.
Playing in her non-traditional spot, Zhang led the Garnet with 28 assists. Razdan led the way with 14 kills, while Tyson added 30 digs, four assists and three service aces.
Alexa Bartlett added five kills, while Mayhue tallied four kills. Perry and
Lucy Fetterman collected three kills in the victory for Swarthmore.
The Garnet move to 10-6 and 6-1 in CC play, while Ursinus falls to 5-13 and 2-6. Swarthmore will host Dickinson College and Stockton University in a tri-match on Saturday, with the Garnet and Red Devils kicking the day off at 12:00 p.m.
