SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Swarthmore College Volleyball knocked off Dickinson College and Stockton University in a tri-match played at Tarble Pavilion on Saturday.
The Garnet, who celebrated
Lucy Fetterman on Senior Day, move to 12-6 and 7-1 in Centennial Conference play. Against the Red Devils, Swarthmore swept the match 3-0 (25-11, 25-22, 25-11). In the late match against the Ospreys, the Garnet won 3-1 (25-23, 21-25, 25-21, 25-16). With the win over the Red Devils, the Garnet secured a spot in the Centennial Conference playoffs. It will be the seventh straight appearance in the Centennial Conference postseason.Â
Swarthmore 3, Dickinson 0 (25-11, 25-22, 25-11):
The Garnet scored the first six points of the match. Fetterman and
Erin Kaye each had a pair of kills, while
Alexa Bartlett got in on the fun with a kill of her own. After an exchanging of the next few points, Swarthmore notched three more points with the help of a kill from Fetterman. Closing out the first set, Swarthmore scored six of the last eight points. Fetterman had four kills, while
Dani Pena and
Sierra Tyson each had a pair of assists during that stretch.
Fetterman led the Garnet with 14 kills, while Kaye and
Kaylee Zhang added 11 and 6 kills, respectively. Zhang finished the match with two service aces. Pena Tallied 40 assist, while Tyson collected 29 digs.
Swarthmore 3, Stockton 1 (25-23, 21-25, 25-21, 25-16):
Swarthmore collected four of the first seven points as
Grace Hegland and Fetterman each tallied a kill. In a back and forth set with the Ospreys, it was difficult for either team to hold onto the momentum for long. The Garnet scored the last five points to win the first set, 25-23. Two kills from Zhang, a service ace from Pena and a pair of Ospreys attacking errors closed out the first set.Â
After dropping the second set, the Garnet won the next two sets to take the non-conference battle. Zhang led the way with 19 kills and two aces, while
Jordan Perry added ten kills and two blocks. Tyson collected 22 digs, while Zhang added 11 and
Trisha Razdan finished with five.Â
The Garnet currently sit tied for second in the Centennial Conference with Haverford College. Swarthmore will return to the court on Tuesday as they travel to take on Bryn Mawr at 7:00 p.m., before closing out the regular season against the Fords on October 30th. The final two matches will help decide what seed the Garnet have in the Centennial postseason tournament.
