CLEARWATER, Fla.—Swarthmore College Women's Lacrosse opened up its spring break trip with an 18-5 win over the Guilford College Quakers on Monday morning. The Garnet improved to 4-0 for the fourth season in a row and gave Guilford just its first loss of the season.
Swarthmore jumped out to a 6-0 lead and compounded their advantage to 11-2 by halftime. A run of three goals in a row in the second half followed by a string of four straight goals left Swarthmore in an excellent position to claim the victory.
Mackenzie Frost led Swarthmore with a season-high six goals. Kyra Hall and Sophie Peipher each recorded a hat trick. Julia Ostrowski added a pair of goals. First-years Emma Holub and Andie Kapiloff each scored a goal as did veterans Sydnie Schwarz and Kacy Hafertepe.
Frost reached her first hat trick of the game with 12:23 left in the first half.
Swarthmore took advantage of four yellow cards for Guilford and scored three times during those penalties.
The Garnet were strong on the clear, going 16-for-20.
Swarthmore now prepares for a 10 a.m. game against Marywood on Wednesday in Clearwater.
