SWARTHMORE, Pa.—Swarthmore College Women's Lacrosse improved to 2-0 with a 15-6 win over visiting Immaculata University on Monday night.
Swarthmore jumped on the Mighty Macs right after the opening whistle, pouncing for a goal in the first possession.
Mackenzie Frost, who scored that goal 16 seconds into play, tallied four goals in the evening. Senior
Sophie Peipher also netted four goals.
Julia Ostrowski found the back of the net twice, and
Emma Holub,
Kacy Hafertepe,
Eleanor Miller,
Kyra Hall and
Megan Jones tagged a goal as well. Hafertepe dealt out three assists and Schwarz dealt out a pair.
Freshman
Katee Kemether recorded nine saves in the win.
On the draw, the Garnet picked up 14 draw controls to Immaculata's nine. Frost registered a game-high five draw controls.
After 15 minutes of play, the teams were knotted at 3-3, but then the Garnet began to pick up some steam. Schwarz located Peipher and Holub for goals, but Immaculata got one back with 8:41 left in the first. Then Swarthmore broke the game wide open, scoring 10 straight goals and keeping Immaculata scoreless for the next 30 minutes.
Swarthmore looks to stay hot on Friday when it hosts Arcadia in a 5 p.m. game.
