SWARTHMORE, Pa.—No. 24 Swarthmore College Women's Tennis opened the 2019-20 spring season with a pair of sweeps, brushing off Immaculata University 9-0 in the morning and Centennial Conference opponent Muhlenberg College 9-0 in the afternoon in the Mullan Tennis Center.

In the top doubles pairing, Elise Talley and Christina Wang won 8-4. Sonia Varma and freshman Jenny Lewis worked together for an 8-1 win in second doubles. And in third doubles, Grace Dignazio and first-year Anna Miller swept their competition 8-0.
Senior Emma Kassan handled top singles 6-3, 6-1. Lewis, playing second singles, won with a convincing 6-0, 6-0 sweep.
Vivian Fernandez-Ravelo won third singles 6-1, 6-0. Dignazio earned another win at fourth singles 6-0, 6-1.
Miller delivered a double bagel in fifth singles as did Audrey Haring in sixth singles.

The nationally-ranked Garnet had no issue with the visiting Mules. After making some slight lineup adjustments, the Garnet again achieved the same results in the nightcap.
Hassan and Fernandez-Ravelo won 8-4 in first doubles. The Garnet only dropped one game in the remaining doubles matches; Varma and Lewis went 8-0 in second dubs, and Haring and Dignazio went 8-1 in third dubs.
Kassan blanked Muhlenberg's top-ranked player 6-0, 6-0. The match was decided by the time Wang and Varma cleared the courts with wins, so fourth through sixth singles were played as pro-sets. Talley, Miller and Haring each earned the 8-0 wins.
Swarthmore returns to the court to host No. 19 NYU on Friday.
