ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Swarthmore College Women's Basketball dropped a Centennial Conference contest to Muhlenberg College, 55-48, on Thursday night.
The Garnet fall to 7-5 overall and 4-3 in league play, while the Mules improve to 5-7 overall and 3-4 in conference play.
Swarthmore and Muhlenberg battled in a back-and-forth first quarter. Both teams exchanged in the first quarter.
Dana Bandurick and
Faith Nation recorded back to back layups as Swarthmore took a 15-14 lead. The first framed closed out with the Garnet having a 20-19 advantage.
The Mules offense took over in the second period as they shot 69% from the field. Swarthmore struggled to keep pace as they were outscored 19-12. At half, the Garnet trailed the Mules 38-32. Swarthmore and Muhlenberg combined for only 36 points in the second half.
Bandurick finished the game with her sixth double-double on the season. The freshman recorded 18 points and 11 rebounds, and added four assist and three steals.
Kim Kockenmeister contributed eight points and was 2-for-2 from three-point range.
Abigail Pirron and
Kendall Tribus added five points, while
Elizabeth Stiles finished the game with four points.
The Garnet look to get back on track as they host Bryn Mawr on Saturday. Tip-off for the Centennial match-up is set for 2:00 p.m.
