Women's Basketball Reigns Supreme Over Owls

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Swarthmore College Women's Basketball earned a decisive 97-45 victory over Bryn Mawr College on Saturday afternoon at Tarble Pavilion.

The Garnet improve to 8-5 on the season and 5-3 in Centennial action, while the Owls fall to 0-13 overall and 0-9 in league play.

Swarthmore opened the game on a 10-0 run, including eight of those points coming from freshman Dana Bandurick. The Garnet forced the Owls into early mistakes with a full-court pressure defense. After Bandurick's first layup, the freshman forced Bryn Mawr's Brendan Harrison to turn the ball over on a traveling violation.

Elizabeth Stiles led the way for the Garnet in the second quarter. The senior recorded eight points on 3-of-4 shooting and three defensive rebounds. Swarthmore closed out the first half with a 51-32 lead.

Christina Holmgren opened the scoring in the second half with a mid-range jumper. The Garnet held Bryn Mawr to only four points and 1-of-13 shooting from the field in the third frame. Swarthmore countered with 6-of-17 from the field and a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity line.

With the shot clock close to expiring in the fourth quarter, Faith Nation found a wide open Stiles for an easy two point layup. Katee Kemether was a perfect 4-of-4 from the field as the freshman recorded all eight of her points in the final frame.

Bandurick ended the conference game with a game-high 21 points and was a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line. The freshman added seven rebounds, five assist, five steals and one block. Stiles, Nation and Kim Kockenmeister each added 12 points.

Nation finished with six rebounds, two assist and two steals. Holmgren added five points, four rebounds and one steal, while Kendall Tribus and Colleen Anderson each contributed with six points for the Garnet.
