LANCASTER, Pa. – Swarthmore College Women's Basketball opened 2020 with a huge victory over Franklin & Marshall as they extended their win streak to four games.
The Garnet defeated the Diplomats, 71-54, to snap a seven game losing streak to their conference foe. Swarthmore improves to 6-4 overall and 3-2 in Centennial play, while Franklin & Marshall falls to 4-7 and 2-4 in league play.
Dana Bandurick and
Kendall Tribus led the Garnet in scoring. Bandurick netted 17 points and Tribus finished with 14 points on 4-of-9 shooting.
The first frame ended with Swarthmore having a slight 16-12 advantage, but the flood gates opened in the second for the Garnet. Swarthmore outscored F&M 21-8 in the second quarter behind a pair of freshman, Bandurick and
Colleen Anderson. Bandurick notched seven of her 17 points, while Anderson netted six points for the Garnet.
Bandurick added eight rebounds, five assist and two steals in the conference contest. Tribus grabbed four steals and four rebounds, while
Elizabeth Stiles,
Kim Kockenmeister and
Christina Holmgren each finished with eight points.
Anderson added nine points and one steal for the Garnet.
Swarthmore last defeated the Diplomats on December 8, 2015, as the Garnet recorded a 74-53 victory. The Garnet are back in action on Tuesday at Washington (Md.) for a Centennial Conference matinee. Tip-off is set for 12:30 p.m.
