SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- No. 25-ranked Swarthmore College volleyball swept McDaniel College in three sets on Saturday, forcing the Green Terror's record to 10-2.
The Garnet (10-1) won the sets 25-21, 25-16, 25-20.
The first set was never separated by more than four points. However, the Garnet took a 5-4 lead and led the rest of the set.
Swarthmore trailed 3-1 in the second set but jumped out to an 18-11 advantage by scoring six straight points. Five different Garnet players recorded a kill during that six-point streak.
In the third set, the Garnet took 5-1 and 19-11 leads before letting the Green Terror creep back into it.
Junior outside hitter
Mehra den Braven had a .298 hitting percentage and led the Garnet with 19 kills.
Freshman defensive specialist
Katie Silva contributed to the win with a career-high 19 digs, but senior libero
Sarah Girard led the team with 25.
Sophomore setter
Alyssa Nathan had an impressive all-around match with 37 assists, four block assists, five kills and a .364 hitting percentage.
Swarthmore's next match is at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa., on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
