Box Score SWARTHMORE, Pa.--No. 19 Swarthmore College Men's Tennis beat No. 12 University of Mary Washington 5-4 on Sunday afternoon.
The Garnet are now 11-10 overall this season with a 7-0 record against Centennial Conference opponents.
Swarthmore took a 2-1 lead over the Eagles in the doubles matches. Seniors
Mark Fallati and
Josh Powell won the No. 1 doubles match. Senior
Blake Oetting and freshman
Jiung Jung won 8-5 in third doubles.
The Garnet hung on in singles, wining three of the six matches. Freshman
Thibault Vernier won 6-4, 6-0 in the second spot. Powell won in the No. 3 position by a score of 6-4, 6-4. Jung was also victorious, winning 7-6, 3-6, 6-4 in the fifth slot.
Swarthmore has two regular-season matches remaining, and both are against conference opponents. The team's next match is at home against Haverford College on Tuesday.
