Box Score SWARTHMORE, Pa.—Swarthmore College Men's Tennis won its indoor match against the Washington & Lee University Generals 6-3. The Garnet, ranked No. 32 in the latest ITA National Rankings, beat the team directly above them. Swarthmore improved to 2-1 on the season and the 31st-ranked Generals slipped to 3-1.
Swarthmore swept through doubles 8-4, 8-2, 8-5.
The Generals took the top two flights of singles, but Swarthmore got the job done in third, fourth and sixth singles. John Lathrop came close to taking fifth singles but fell 12-10 in the tiebreaker.
Simon Vernier won at third singles 7-6 (7-3), 6-4, and Josh Powell won in the fourth flight 6-4, 6-1.
Freshman Jiung Jung got a win in sixth singles with ease, 6-1, 6-0.
Swarthmore flew to California after the match to begin their spring break circuit.
