COLLEGEVILLE, Pa.—Junior guard Cam Wiley had a dominating performance on the road on Wednesday night, scoring 29 points in Swarthmore College Men's Basketball's 84-62 win over the Ursinus College Bears.
No. 11 Swarthmore improved to 19-3 on the year and 13-2 in Centennial Conference play. The win, coupled with a Franklin & Marshall double-overtime loss at Johns Hopkins, gives Swarthmore sole possession of first place and guarantees the team a berth in the conference postseason.
Swarthmore led by 22 points in the first half and cruised in the second half, leading by as many as 30 points.
Wiley scored his season-high 29 points on 13-of-19 shooting, including 3-of-7 from the 3-point line. Wiley also had five rebounds and had three assists.
Zack Yonda also crossed the 20-point threshold by going 6-for-12 from the floor and 6-for-8 from the free-throw line to finish with 21 points.
Robbie Walsh and Jim Lammers both netted 11 points. Walsh and Nate Shafer had a game-high seven rebounds.
Swarthmore cashed in on 30-of-62 attempts from the floor for a 48.4 percent rate and limited the hosts to just 26.7 percent from the floor. Ursinus did themselves no favors from the free-throw line, making just 24-of-42 attempts (57.1 percent).
A 15-2 run early in the first half helped Swarthmore establish a comfortable lead.
The Garnet travel to Baltimore on Saturday for a 3 p.m. game with Johns Hopkins University.
