CENTER VALLEY, Pa.—Swarthmore College Women's Lacrosse opened the 2018 season with a 15-4 road win against the DeSales University Bulldogs.
The Garnet allowed the first goal of the game but then scored the next nine goals in the first half to get a comfortable lead. Swarthmore scored a pair of back-to-back player-up goals and led 12-2 by halftime.
Taylor Chiang led Swarthmore with four goals.
Kathryn Restrepo netted a hat trick in her first game back since 2016.
Bella Levine and
Elizabeth Wainwright tallied a pair of goals.
Tess Wild, Sophie Pepher,
Megan Jones and first-year
Julia Ostrowski all scored a goal as well.
Swarthmore peppered DeSales with 29 shots and 21 on goal in the Garnet's first game played under the new 90-second shot clock rule.
The Garnet were dominant on the draw, winning 15 of the 20 draw controls.
Both teams made one free-position goal.
Betsy Cohen got the win in goal with five saves and two goals allowed in 42 minutes.
Lily Fornof had two saves in the remainder of the contest.
Swarthmore plays at home on Saturday against Widener University.
