BALTIMORE—
Abigail Pirron led Swarthmore College Women's Basketball with 14 points in Saturday's 65-46 loss on the road to the Johns Hopkins University Blue Jays.
Pirron, a sophomore guard, went 5-for-12 from the floor and 2-of-6 from the 3-point line.
Junior forward
Audra Woodside added 13 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Bridget Scott and
Elizabeth Stiles each had five points.
Isabelle Ewart added three, and
Christina Holmgren,
Hayley Raymond and
Jayna Jones each had two.
Defensively, Swarthmore recorded six steals and had three assists. The Garnet forced 18 Blue Jays turnovers and only relinquished possession 14 times.
The Blue Jays hit 38.6 percent of their attempts from the floor and were led by 19 points from Sophia Way.
Hopkins took a 14-8 lead in the first quarter and led 29-21 at the half.
In the third quarter, buckets from Pirron and Raymond brought Swarthmore within four points with 3:10 to play. However, the Blue Jays closed out the period on a 9-0 run and that run extended another five points to open the fourth quarter, and Swarthmore was unable to catch up.
The Garnet host Haverford College at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
