SELLINGSGROVE, Pa. -- Swarthmore College Volleyball hit the road for a tri-match with Wesleyan University and Susquehanna University on Saturday and lost both matches in four sets.
Match One: Swarthmore 1, Wesleyan 3
The Garnet (13-8) played the first two sets close, losing the first 25-23 and winning the second 29-27. However, the Cardinals (15-3) won the next two convincingly by scored of 25-16 and 25-14.
Junior
Mehra den Braven had 15 kills for Swarthmore and junior
Isabelle Andrews had 13. Andrews hit .478, leading all players in the match.
Sophomore
Alyssa Nathan led the Garnet with 36 assists and 21 digs.
Match Two: Swarthmore 1, Susquehanna 3
Swarthmore beat the Riverhawks (20-12) 25-21 in the first set but lose the next three 25-19, 25-19, 25-23.
Junior
Emma Morgan-Bennett and freshman
Katie Silva had a team-high 12 kills each. Den Braven had 10 kills and is now 15 away from becoming the seventh player in Swarthmore history to record 1,000 for her career.
Senior
Sarah Girard was second to Den Braven's 24 digs with 23 against Susquehanna. Girard is 53 away from becoming the first Garnet player to ever have 2,000 career digs.
The Garnet have two matches remaining on their regular season schedule, both against Centennial Conference opponents. The first one is on Wednesday at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pa., at 7 p.m. The second one is what could be Swarthmore's final home match on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Haverford College.
