SWARTHMORE, Pa.–The Swarthmore College women's basketball team welcomed a tough opponent to Tarble for its first game of 2018 and suffered a 83-38 loss to the Gettysburg Bullets on Saturday, Jan. 6.
Entering today's game, the Bullets were 5-0 in conference and 10-1 against all opponents.
Abigail Pirron led the Garnet with ten points, including a made basket as time expired in the fourth.
Christina Holmgren finished 4-for-6 from the field and contributed three blocks to accompany her eight points.
Bridget Scott pulled down five boards and swatted two shots in 14 minutes, while making eight trips to the charity stripe.
Swarthmore hung around for much of the first quarter and trailed by only two points at 15-13 after a Scott layup. The Bullets, however, ended the period with an 8-0 run and carried the momentum into the next frame.

Hayley Raymond and Holmgren ended the half with four consecutive points as Swarthmore trailed 43-21. Gettysburg added to its lead in the third quarter and never looked back.
The women's basketball team travels to McDaniel College on Tuesday, Jan. 9 for a 6:00 p.m. conference matchup against the Green Terror.
