LANCASTER, Pa.—
Isabelle Ewart and
Christina Holmgren led Swarthmore College Women's Basketball with 12 points each in Tuesday night's road game at Franklin & Marshall College.
The Garnet conceded 20 points to the host Diplomats in the first quarter and struggled to catch up in the 65-51 loss.
Ewart and Holmgren shot a combined 11-for-18 from the floor. Ewart recorded a team-high seven rebounds to go along with four assists and two steals. Holmgren shot 6-for-8 from the floor and had four steals and three assists.
Freshman guard
Kendall Tribus added eight points off the bench.
F&M's Haley Pilone had a big game, scoring 29 points on 10-of-17 shooting and 5-of-8 from 3-point range.
Swarthmore trailed 20-9 after the first quarter, but pulled within five points with 19 seconds left in the second quarter after a jump shot by
Abigail Pirron.
A 3-pointer by Ewart with 6:42 to go in the third quarter brought Swarthmore back within five points again. However, the Garnet couldn't close the gap in the fourth quarter.
Up next for Swarthmore is the Washington College Shorewomen. Swarthmore hosts them at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
