HAVERFORD, Pa.—Swarthmore College Women's Basketball led 29-25 at halftime on the road against Haverford College (12-3 overall), but couldn't hold off the Fords in the second half. Haverford took the contest 63-41 and dropped Swarthmore to 3-11 on the year.
Audra Woodside led Swarthmore with 10 points while going 4-for-9 from the floor and pulling down five rebounds. Senior guard
Hayley Raymond had nine points, and freshman guard
Isabelle Ewart added six points.
Ewart dropped in a layup with four seconds left in the first half to put Swarthmore up four at the break. Ewart opened the second period by knocking down a jumper, and then Woodside scored from the paint to make it an eight-point lead with 8:51 left in the third quarter. However, Haverford went on a 11-0 over the next six minutes to retake the lead for the first time since the first quarter.
Swarthmore stayed within four points through the end of the third quarter. Haverford pulled away from Swarthmore with a 15-0 run to open the fourth quarter.
Swarthmore only earned six free throw attempts while Haverford was awarded 21 attempts, scoring 15 of its points from the line.
Swarthmore is back at home on Saturday against Dickinson College at 1 p.m.
